Identify the regulatory category
Look for the product name, dosage form and any AUST L number. Do not treat the words supplement, listed medicine and approved medicine as interchangeable.
Calculate what the daily dose supplies
Use the directions and ingredient panel together. Per-capsule figures alone may not describe the labelled daily amount or how long the pack lasts.
Read before purchase
Check warnings, allergens, age restrictions, storage, sponsor and manufacturer statements. Verify the AUST L entry when the product is a listed medicine.
