30-SECOND ANSWER

A clear Australian guide to fish oil, EPA, DHA and the label facts shoppers should compare.

01

Fish oil, EPA and DHA

Fish oil is the carrier material; EPA and DHA are specific omega-3 fatty acids within it. Two products with the same total fish oil amount can provide different amounts of EPA and DHA.

02

Read the daily dose

Compare the number of capsules in the labelled dose, the EPA and DHA supplied by that dose, pack size, warnings and days supplied. Front-label numbers alone do not provide the full picture.

03

Australian verification

An AUST L number allows consumers to find a listed medicine on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. Listing is a public verification point, not TGA endorsement of the brand or every advertising statement.
